Background

Mr. Kwon started at Samsung Electronics as a research and development engineer after he completed his education in electronics engineering. His success in research resulted in several patented commercialized consumer products, and led to his eventual interest in patent law. He rose through the ranks and acquired his hands-on skills as the IP Team Manager at Samsung. He analyzed issued patents in the field of consumer products and involved in licensing programs such as MPEG2, MPEG 4, IEEE1394, AVC/H.264, DVD, and ATSC (digital television) for Essential, Standard Patent Pools.

Equipped with his Master of Intellectual Property degree at the School of Law of the University of New Hampshire, Mr. Kwon joined Staas & Halsey in Washington, D.C. and obtained versatile experience when managing several patent portfolios for research institutes and multi-national corporations. Later, he founded Goldilocks Zone IP Law to continue his service to his clients.

Mr. Kwon is a trusted practitioner of patent law due to his thorough knowledge of both the Korean and the U.S. patent law systems. His insight of these two jurisdictions contributes to his proactive advice and effective strategy to clients. As always, he provides full attention and dedication to applicants, from start-up companies to international corporations. His colleagues from inventors, to patent engineers, IP managers, and attorneys enjoy his friendly personality and professional temperament.

Mr. Kwon and his wife are proud parents of their two adult children. In his spare time, he is active in his local community, and enjoys pop music, golf, and the Korean chess Baduk.
