- Material sciences (amorphous paramagnetic alloy components and applications, semiconductor
light-emitting diodes, and photovoltaic materials)
- Consumer products (golf balls, textile materials, filtration membranes, coatings, fuel cell
storages, optical lenses and skin care products)
- Chemistry (organic molecules, pharmaceutical compositions, bioactive natural products,
industrial chemical processes, polymers, carbon nanotubes and oligonucleotide synthesis)
- Biotechnology (protein folding and shape analysis, short peptides, regulation of protein
kinases, monoclonal antibodies, cell lines, biomedical devices and reporters of biological assays)
Background
Prior to his legal career, Dr. Ho was a scientific researcher at the Ohio State University and the National
Cancer Institute. His research focused on the synthesis and discovery of natural anticancer and cancer
preventive compounds, as well as the synthesis and design of antitumor drugs and anti-AIDS drugs. He is a
co-inventor of methods of treating breast cancer cells using geldanamycin-monoclonal antibody immunoconjugates
(U.S. Patents 6,747,055 and 7,026,350).
Dr. Ho has published 23 abstracts of presentations at international and national scientific meetings. He has
also published 2 legal newsletter articles, and 1 legal journal article in J. Biolaw and Business. In
addition, he has published 24 scientific articles in journals such as J. Organic Chemistry, Tetrahedron
Letters, J. Natural Products, J. National Cancer Institute, Cancer Research, Carcinogenesis, and
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics.
Dr. Ho enjoys listening to classical music and plays the viola for his community orchestra. He also
appreciates movies from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea, as they represent the cultural background of his
neighbors.
